Springtime in the Rockies: alternate lyrics

Springtime in the Rockies

Alternate lyrics

Verse 1

I rose so bright and early one fine morning,

I planned to mow the lawn that very day.

The grass was getting tall and green and tangled,

It looked less like a lawn and more like hay.

But looking out the window of the kitchen,

The snow was piled, drifted in a heap,

I couldn’t see the bluegrass or the fescue,

I’ll wait until the snow is not so deep.

Chorus

When it’s Springtime in the Rockies,

Wear you hat and coat and gloves

It’s just a little frigid,

Maybe twenty-five above.

The ducks have got the message

They’re heading south again

Even though the weather’s wretched

Real locals don’t complain.

Verse 2

We kept our spirits high through March and April,

We kept on smiling through the first of May,

We’re ready for the winter to be over,

We’ve been so very patient every day.

We want to see the chlorophyll and clover,

To weed the daffodils and mow the hay.

When it’s Springtime in the Rockies,

It is snowing every day.

Chorus

When it’s Springtime in the Rockies,

Wear you hat and coat and gloves

It’s just a little frigid,

Maybe twenty-five above.

The ducks have got the message

They’re heading south again

Even though the weather’s wretched

Real locals don’t complain.
